Teenagers are learning to walk on their own, taking the steps towards independence into a big world of loose morals and confusing lyrics. It is a time when they are experimental and reckless, testing the boundaries. They are searching for ways to define themselves and trying to decide what to believe in.
The teenage years can be a confusing and scary as they struggle with the many physical, emotional, and hormonal changes that take place at this time in their life. On top of that, the world has a message and a path it’s inviting them to walk, but that message stands on uneven ground and that path is one of compromise and false promises.
What truth do they need to hear?
I saw this quote recently: “Be the person you needed when you were a teenager.”
Simple messages that help them to discern and speak the truth about who they are at a time in their lives when they are trying to figure that exact thing out can help to ground a teenager to stand on truth.
You may not know a teenager very well. He/she might be a neighbor or co-worker’s kid. Nevertheless, you have this special, once in a life time opportunity to speak loving truth to them that could influence the rest of their lives.
Make a list of each teenager you know and lift each tehnup in prayer.
What is the message that they may need to hear?
What can you tell them today?
