People are touched by your effort to go out of your way to give them a card, but they are especially touched when it is given with the expression of genuine concern and honest compassion for them.
Pray for the Heart of Christ.
We have many references in the gospels where Jesus looked at the people around Him and “was moved with compassion for them” (Matthew 9:36, 14:14, 20:13; Mark 6:34, 8:2-3; Luke 7:13; John 11:34-38).
TOO TIRED TO CARE?!
It can be feel like “too much” to stop and “feel for others” when we, ourselves, are so taxed, stressed, and overwhelmed with a multitude of demands knocking on our doors. How much more can we give anyway?!
Well, how did Jesus give so much? He met with His Father in prayer every day. We have accounts of Him praying in the early morning hours and alone, praying in the late evening hours too (Matthew 14:23; Mark 1:35, 6:46; Luke 5:15, 6:12, 9:18, 11:1). He knew praying to His heavenly Father was His only source of strength (John 5:19-20).
If Jesus was going to accomplish His mission for humanity, then He knew where He had to be, and that place was in prayer.
How much more do we need to follow His example with our own personal ministries?
HE IS OUR Strength & Partner
The same is with us, for Jesus was our example (John 13:15; 1 John 2:6).
John 15:4-5 tells us that we “can do nothing apart from Him.”
Philippians 4:13 affirms this truth by saying, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Jesus deeply understands our weaknesses, He very much knows our how tired and stressed we can become (Hebrews 4:15).
Through God’s Spirit, wisdom, and strength we can fit a personal ministry into our lives that is rich with compassion, sincerity, and power.
No ministry is half as effective without prayer. So let’s start covering, filling, and surrounding our lives and ministry with prayer!
Notice that Jesus gives us this invitation, “Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30.
The JOY of our LORD
When we accept God’s daily invitation to come to Him and enter into His yoke, we learn to walk with Him and follow His leading. A yoke can be heavy, but since God carries most of the load, our load is light.
As we reach out through these cards, we get to witness the mighty working of God in people’s lives and know that He is working behind the scenes in ways we cannot explain.
As we walk with God in personal ministry,
our faith will expand,
our love for God will enlarge,
our confidence will grow,
and our JOY will burst forth.
